Curitiba 1.12.15 & 2.12.15

We left the hotel in Rio and took a taxi to the airport (55 reales), once we arrived, we tried finding our flight on the board, which we couldn't. So we asked the flight attendant and she told us our flight was cancelled and we needed to stop in Sao Paulo and connect to Curitiba and our flight was boarding in 20 minutes. Great. We would have known it if Oliver had checked his email...
Anyways we changed at Sao Paulo and by 17:30 we were in Curitiba. We met Gustavo and Adrielle in the airport, we chatted and laughed while waiting for another couchsurfer. When he arrived they dropped us off at our hotel which was very basic but comfortable. Later on Gustavo came back to take us out for dinner. We had dinner in a food court in a shopping centre and then bought some brazilian chocolates that are amazing! Thanks for the tip!

The next morning after a hearty breakfast, we went for a bit of sightseeing. We walked the centre of the city, had a look at a Christmas market and took the sightseeing bus to the Botanical Gardens which was beautiful. Curitiba is the only city in Brazil that has got a rooftop tourist bus as informed by Gustavo.

At 2 we met with Gustavo and Ed (the other couchsurfer) for a bit more of sightseeing. We entered the Oscar Niemeyer museum (9 reales) and had lunch in a desserts and snacks buffet! It looked like heaven!
After lunch we carried on to the 24h street. A street that used to have open shops all day until last year when they set normal times. The street, however, kept the name. Gustavo had to go soon after this but we walked around with Ed for a bit around the city centre until it started raining and we decided to go back to the hotel to get shelter and our luggage.
We were unlucky to say goodbye to Gustavo and Adrielle for personal reasons but we did like Curitiba and we hope to meet them again soon.

We took a taxi to the airport. Iguazu Falls, we are coming.
